A Blooming Pursuit

The fragrance of their flowers whispers,
There is change in the air.”

A Blooming Pursuit was inspired by Talitha de Klerk, founder of the Rhythm of Hope programme. Through her work with young people in South Africa, she creates spaces where potential can unfold. What stands out to me about Talitha is the way she pioneers with both strength and compassion — guiding, encouraging, and educating with genuine care so that young lives can grow with confidence and dignity.

In the painting, the flowers symbolize the unfolding potential within the young generation. Each bloom represents a life being nurtured and encouraged to grow into its unique beauty and purpose. Just as flowers require care, patience, and the right environment to flourish, young people thrive when they are supported, guided, and believed in.

The flowing waves of water in the composition represent a source of life and renewal. They symbolize the steady movement of encouragement, opportunity, and guidance that nourishes growth. As water sustains and strengthens living things, these waves reflect the ongoing influence of mentorship and care that allows young people to take root, grow stronger, and eventually flourish.
