My work begins with people: their stories, inner worlds, and the quiet things that often remain unspoken.

Painting, for me, is a way of making those things visible. It is an attempt to translate something felt into something tangible; something that not only speaks to the viewer, but can become part of the spaces in which they live.

Artistic Approach

I work in the space between abstraction and realism, building up layers of ink, acrylic, and oil. Each painting unfolds slowly, much like the stories that inspire it.

My South African roots and my faith continue to shape the way I see the world and the themes I return to: grace, resilience, identity, belonging, and the unexpected beauty that can emerge from seasons of difficulty.

Over the years, this way of working has naturally led me into creating commissioned pieces. Many of my paintings are rooted in personal stories, sometimes expressed through portraiture, sometimes through symbolism, and sometimes through more intuitive, abstract forms that resist easy explanation.

For me, a painting is never simply a representation of a person. It becomes a reflection of a particular moment, a transition, an atmosphere, or a sense of becoming.

Education & Background

I hold a BA Honours degree in Visual Communication, (Cum Laude and top achiever award), from The Open Window in Pretoria, South Africa. Alongside my studio practice, I continue to develop my skills through ongoing study in painting techniques.

Earlier in my career, I worked as a lecturer and head of department in Communication Design. That background still informs the way I approach visual storytelling and the relationship between image, emotion, and meaning.

While exhibitions and formal training have shaped my journey as an artist, what matters most to me is creating work that feels personal and lasting, work that continues to reveal something new over time.

Rhythm of Hope

Rhythm of Hope is an ongoing body of work exploring connection, movement, and transformation. The series reflects my interest in the human condition and in the ways stories can extend beyond the canvas into the lives they touch.

The series was created with community upliftment at its heart. A portion of the proceeds from every Rhythm of Hope artwork sold goes towards the dance training and life-skills education of students from underprivileged communities.

Through this body of work, I bring creative practice and social engagement together, using art not only to tell stories, but also to help create opportunities, encourage growth, and support lasting change.
