Through the Eyes of a Child

When my children look at me with a twinkle in their eyes, while a smile of extravagant and unrestrained joy curves across their cheeks, it awakens an intense, heart-warming sensation. There is something profound in an expression of uncluttered innocence; it exudes a transmissible glory that changes the atmosphere. In an open-hearted, eye-to-eye connection, a proclamation of unashamed trust abounds and I am reminded how powerful simple, heartfelt connection can be.

As we grow older, life slowly adds layers — responsibilities, disappointments, and self-doubt that can make us more cautious and guarded. The painting Through the Eyes of a Child grew from my longing to gently move back through those layers. It is about rediscovering that natural openness we once carried so freely.

For me, this work is an invitation to re-emerge from the layers of our past so that the light can return to our eyes again — to look at the world with renewed curiosity, trust, and quiet joy.
